Serving Our Members in 2019

A Message from Our President

Nov. 1, 2018

As open enrollment season kicks off for many of you, we're proud to once again provide coverage in every county across Illinois. Whether you get your insurance from your employer, on the individual marketplace or through a broker — we're dedicated to providing more affordable products. That includes access to tools to help you make the best choices for you and your family.

But our work doesn't stop there. Health coverage is still unattainable for many in our communities. That's why we're investing in ways to make health care more affordable and easier to access for all Illinoisans. ZIP code can be as important as genetic code in determining a person's health.

With that in mind, you can count on access to Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Illinois coverage in every zip code in Illinois — providing peace of mind through all life stages and changes. We're doing that by strengthening our partnership with doctors, hospitals and care providers to improve quality of care.

We're digging deeper to understand members' needs to provide peace of mind and empower whole-person health. Since healthier communities make health care more affordable for everyone, we'll keep investing in programs and support organizations that make Illinois healthier for our neighbors, friends and family. We are focused on expanding coverage to as many families, children, and individuals, young and old, as possible.

This is the next chapter of our 82-year history of protecting individuals — through it all.

Maurice Smith
President, Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Illinois
